Wedding Gift Ideas

Matthew June 19, 2018

Wedding gift shopping can be tough. You want to celebrate the new couple with a gift, but you also want to choose something they’ll actually use instead of storing it away in the cupboard to collect dust. At the same time, you don’t want to choose something purely functional (mops and feather dusters are not recommended). A great gift should be useful but also fun—it should reflect who the partners are as a couple.

While money can be useful to a newly married couple, it’s nice to consider a more personal, thoughtful gift especially if you know the couple well. Here are our top four recommendations for wedding gifts that the new couple are sure to use and cherish.

  1. Champagne Celebration Hamper

In terms of being used and appreciated by the newlyweds, wine gift hampers definitely top the list! This Champagne Celebration Hamper includes a bottle of Moet and Chandon Imperial Brut and a bottle of Domaine Chandon Brut Sparkling surrounded by a range of other treats including biscuits rose de reims, essence of hibiscus flowers to add to the champagne or other cocktails, fudge, handmade lavosh, nougat with macadamias, raw macadamia crunch honey, dark chocolate coated strawberries, and a trio of olive tapenade, lemon garlic dill dressing, and fireball chili mustard. The newlyweds will be well fed and watered with this tempting basket!

  1. Art

Gifting art can be a bit tricky because everyone’s tastes are so different. But if you know the couple well and have visited their home(s), you may have a good sense of their overall style. If they have a favourite artist and the price of the art is feasible for your gift budget, pick out a piece than will find a good home on one of the newlyweds’walls. Or if they have a favourite date or vacation spot where there are artists to be found, pick up a piece that depicts the area and will bring a smile to the newlyweds’ faces whenever they walk past.

  1. A Sharp Knife

Most couples probably already have most of their kitchenware sorted before getting married, but that doesn’t mean you can’t upgrade some of their equipment. Even if the couple are not avid cooks, having a sharp knife in the kitchen makes what cooking they do more enjoyable (even if their “cooking” primarily consists of cutting up limes for cocktails!). Gift them a high-quality knife and appropriate sharpener to start the couple off right in the kitchen.

4.Cheeseboard Celebration Hamper

Speaking of knives, this cheeseboard Celebration Hamper includes a Laguiolecheese knife made in France and an Ironwood Gourmet Cheeseboard, so you can grab your favourite cheese and dig right into the delicious accompaniments included in the hamper. It includes a fig and walnut log, quince, macadamia crunch honey, crisp bread, vine-dried muscatels, peppery cheddars, handmade lavosh, and a bottle of delicious Shiraz to pair with it all. As far as wedding gift baskets go, this one is sure to be enjoyed both immediately because of the ready-to-gobble treats, and for many years to come because of the beautiful cheeseboard and knife.
